Хто это сказал, что, вывесив флаги Евросоюза, - мы уже в Европе? Если б все было так просто. На флажке - Европа, а в голове - что? В сознании? Там - страх, затраханый калгас, ненависть... До Европы - как до Марса.

Great! Oppositionists can place some flags... Does this really show their ability to be European??? I don't think so. When you are asking Belorussians if they want their country to become member of the EU, of course they say yes because they expect prosperity and better living standards. Due to the same motivation also Algerians, Moroccans, Turks and Albanians are in favour of an EU accession because the EU has developed in these bordering states the illusion of a rich magnet which will endlessly enlarge. But when you are asking the Belorussians about the EU in terms of institutions, legislation and supranationalism, the knowledge I guess is zero. Belorussia is a European Country, yes! But it will never become a member state of the EU, this is and remains not a cultural but a political decision. I see the future for this country only as a bridge between West and East - it is even economically suicidal to turn the back to Russia. Don't dream dreams - don't nourish unrealistic hopes.

I don't know where you are from. But I have to inform you that I live in Hungary where before 1990. communism was the core ideology. Those days nobody have even thought about EU membership.
And then 01.05.2004. came and we accessed the European Union.

Was it 20 years ago a dream? Yes it was.
And did it come reality? Yes it did.

So don't come here and talk about possibilities and dreams. Yes you're right in your short minded theory that today is impossible.

But do you really know the future?

Did anybody think after the WWII that once Europe will unite such peacefully? Did anybody think that Germany and France the historical enemies will join their efforts to create a better world?

If westerners would thought 20 years ago like You, Hungary wouldn't be a member today.
I and my compatriots made huge efforts in the '90-ies to develop our country into a European one. Hungary was also very far from being a truly European one. So I know what I'm talking about because we did it! And I wish the same for the Belarusians: work hard, look forward and nothing is impossible!

We already members should support the Belarusians in their struggle for freedom. We should support them in their bid to join the EU.

So our task is to persuade our own politicians to support the Belarusian bid and not talking like you. "Oh I don't believe, so don't do it!"

If Martin Luther King would't believe in his vision America now would be totally different.

And what happened finally? The next president of the United States could be an afroamerican politician.
