Vitsiebsk district court sentenced Zmitser Yakaulieu to a fine. Zmitser was detained yesterday for taking part in the action dedicated to the Day of Fathers’ Memory.
Judge Alena Tsierakhava obliged Zmitser to pay a fine of 1 basic value (BR 31.000) for having walked 10 steps with an unfolded white-red-white flag, Radio Svaboda reports.
According to the police protocol, it happened at a parking near the village of Paliayi, where 25 dwellers of Vitsiebsk came to commemorate victims of Stalinism.
A memorable cross was placed at the shooting ground, but the police didn’t consider the event a public action. The fact that the participants of the funeral march unfolded national flags to carry them to the mass shooting ground made the police treat the action as “non-sanctioned picket.”
