You’d better demonstrate humanism to political prisoners 2

10:46, — Politics

A draft law “On amnesty of some persons, committed crimes” was adopted by the “council of the republic” on Friday. When presenting the document, Natallia Andreichyk, head of the commission on legislation and state development, said that “the law’s aim is to show humanism to the people who have committed socially-dangerous acts.”

But the Belarusian authorities chose not to demonstrate humanism to the political prisoners, though the whole world demands them to be released.

It should be reminded that the draft law on amnesty was approved by the “lower house” on October, 24. According to the document, more than 2.500 people are to be released, including 1.700 of those, who are serving their terms of punishment in close type institutions, and 850 people from open type facilities.

It is still unknown, whether political prisoners Aliaksandr Kazulin, Andrei Klimau, Zmiter Dashkevich, Artur Finkevich, Mikola Autukhovich and Yury Liavonau will be included in the amnesty.

By the way, release of political prisoners is the main condition of the EU for normalisation the relation with Belarus. The recent US sanctions against concern Belneftekhim were imposed first of all due to the repression against the opposition, ballot-rigging and total violation of human rights.
