Commenting on the possibility of granting Belarus a Russian credit of $ 1.5 bln, former Vice Prime Minister of the Russian government Boris Nemtsov told Radio Racyja he considered it immoral to give money to the ruling Belarusian authorities.
Boris Nemtsov said: “I cannot predict whether you’ll get the credit, but be sure – we have the money.”
“We could give more. Our gold and currency reserve itself makes $ 450 bln, and the budget is $ 150 bln. $ 1.5 bln is nothing for Russia.”
In case Russia resolves to grant the credit there will be no special demands for Belarus, Nemtsov believes.
“The fact that Putin’s regime is approaching Lukashenka’s regime in its standards – for example, similar elections – indicates that the sister nations will help each other. I would never give even a coin! First of all, because he will deceive, he will never pay back. Secondly, the money will be spent on Special Forces, not on the people. And it is immoral to pay for strengthening of dictator.”
Nemtsov is convinced the situation has nothing to do with economic agreements: “This is pure politics. The support rendered by one dictator brother to the other.”
