US Ambassador: such actions help governments hear their people

11:30, — Politics

“Such actions help governments hear their people,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Belarus Karen Stewart who had been watching the opposition’s action “The Social March” told BelaPAN.

“I consider such actions an adequate way to express one’s opinion. I hope people realize they can do more in future,” K.Stewart said. The Social March is a peaceful action of protest, she remarked. Ms. Ambassador was pleased to see only a few law enforcement bodies’ officers.

At the same time, K.Stewart emphasized that the law on benefits abolition is “an interior issue of the state” that the US government doesn’t interfere with. “But our concern is that the Belarusian people can express their opinion and the Belarusian government can hear them,” the diplomat said.
