Belarusian Helsinki Committee is going to carry out a public investigation of the provocation during the Social March 4 November. Acting head of the committee Aleg Gulak says there was a fact of violation the law, that’s why the delinquents ought to be brought to responsibility.
- During the action unknown young people were carrying fascist symbols and shouting slogans, and then they instigated a fight. It clear, these were unlawful actions. As far as we know, the organizers of the event bore no relation to them. In our opinion, militia behaved wrong in these circumstances. They should have taken steps to stop the actions and bring the guilty to responsibility. As we know, no reports were drawn up on these facts. We will try to make the so called public investigation. Of course, we can’t take the place of the law enforcement bodies, and we haven’t such an objective, but we can help them to study out the situation, - Gulak said.
It should be reminded that 4 November when the Social March demonstration was crossing Yakub Kolas and Surhanau Streets in Minsk, a group of young people in black (about 50 persons) separated from the main column and put up a fight in the traffic area. Many of them were shouting fascist slogans. Provocators said they were members of the pro-fascist unregistered organizations “Belaya Vola” (“White Will”) and “Belaya Rus”.
