Borodin: «Putin and Lukashenka will discuss Constitutional Act»

Heads of Russia and Belarus will discuss issues on the budget for 2008 of the Belarus–Russia “union state” and preparation of the Constitutional Act in the course of the coming visit of Russian president to Minsk.
In the course of bilateral negotiations “budget for 2008, foreign policy, fuel and energy cooperation, preparation of the Constitutional Act , introduction of instrument of payment and other issues will be discussed,” Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the “union” of Russia and Belarus said on the press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.
According to him, the most important issue on the agenda of the V. Putin’s visit to Minsk is negotiations on preparation the Constitutional Act, which can become the Constitution of the “union state” in the transition period, Interfax reports.
“The Constitution is drafted to suit a president, a personality, but for our peoples,” he said.
The European Union redrafted the Constitution of the Soviet Union to suit it, and we want to redraft the USSR Constitution to suit the Constitution of the union state,” P. Borodin noted.
