On December 16 “Oborona” movement held an action of solidarity with the Belarusians near Belarusian Embassy in Moscow. Participants of the rally demanded Russian leadership stop supporting Lukashenka’s dictatorship.

“Russia remains Lukashenka’s last ally on the international scene,” “Novaya Gazeta” correspondent was told at the meeting near the Belarusian Embassy by one of the participants Ales Chajchyts. “In his turn Lukashenka is obliged to Russian support dictatorships’ long life. Russia does not response in any way the facts when people are imprisoned for their believes, they are sacked from job, expelled from universities. Besides, we cannot receive positively giving a one and a half billion dollar credit to Belarus. The greater part of the money would be spent for supporting repressions against the civil society in Belarus. We address the Russian president, parliament and government with a call to stop supporting Lukashenka’s regime”.

“I am a representative of the Belarusian community in Moscow,” Ales Chajchyts said. “On the 16th day of every month a day of solidarity with political prisoners and victims of political repressions in Belarus is held. Starting from 1999, prominent Belarusian politicians and public figures in opposition to Lukashenka disappeared or died under mysterious circumstances. A cameraman of Russian TV Zmitser Zavadsky was among them. All these assassinations and abductions have not been investigated in a due manner. They have become a culmination of the total lawlessness in Belarus: absence of free election, absence of freedom of the press. It’s a classical dictatorship”.

Meanwhile, in the beginning of the rally 15 activists of “Molodaya Gvardiya” (a Russian youth organization of the pro-regime party United Russia (Yedinaya Rossiya) organized a provocation. With a slogan: “Orange smog, go away back over the ocean!” “Molodaya Gvardiya” activists scattered provocative leaflets. However policemen quickly reacted to the actions of pro-Kremlin activists, and they were cleared from the place of the rally. 5-6 policemen were maintaining an order at the place where the rally was held.
