Beaten by riot police leader of Young Front to be discharged from hospital

10:17, — Politics

One of the organisation Young Front leaders Zmiter Hvedaruk is expected to be discharged from hospital on 20 December.

It should be reminded that Z. Hvedaruk was injured during clashes between police and participants of the protest action in defence of the Belarusian sovereignty, held on October Square in Minsk on 12 December. The action was timed to the visit of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin to Minsk scheduled for 13–14 December. Doctors fixed Z. Hvedaruk’s brain concussion of second degree.

“I feel a little bit better now. I am waiting for an ophthalmologist to examine me. I’ll most likely be discharged today, I’m going home to keep my bed in quiet atmosphere,” Z. Hvedaruk said.

He also said he had lodged a legal application on beating to the prosecutor’s office of the Central District of Minsk on 13 December. “According to the law, they must response to the application within 2 weeks,” Z. Hvedaruk noted.
