Charginets won millions of rubles in court 13

15:28, — Politics

The court of the Pershamaiski District of Minsk sustained a claim of member of the “council of republic” Mikalai Charginets. “Novy Chas” is to pay Charginets 50 million roubles. Journalist Alyaksandr Takovich must pay 1 million roubles.

It should be reminded that Charginets laid claim on the publication of political feature “General-Senator Mikalai Charginets” by journalist Alyaksandr Takovich in the newspaper “Novy Chas.” The MP’s claims were caused by a number of moments in the publication: from mentioning of literary slaves to amply style of the general and his inclination to self-praise. Charginets was also insulted with the phrase about “low quality of his works.” The defence responded on every count.

Alyaksandr Tamkovich said yesterday he was right in all counts. The defence also made a motion to literary expert examination of the Tamkovich’s feature. But judge Alena Ananich denied the request, and sustained the claim of the “insulted member of parliament.”

But initially Mr. Charginets required the editor’s office should recover 500 million rubles and Alyaksandr Tamkovich – 100 million rubles, and also the account of enterprise “Vremya Novostei”, which publish the newspaper, to be arrested. He reduced the sum of compensation to 50 and 5 million rubles respectively yesterday.
