In Warsaw in the Academy of young diplomats during the opening of the academic year Alyaksandr Milinkevich was awarded Kazimierz Pulaski prize “Knight of Freedom”.

During the ceremony A. Milinkevich received a copy of an officer’s saber of General Pulaski time with the words “Freedom Knight doctor Alyaksandr Milinkevich”.

Mr Milinkevich expressed gratitude to Pulaski Foundation and the Academy for an honour and underlined that like no other country in the world Poland feels historical bonds with Belarus, and helps Belarusians in their fight for democracy now, Radio Svaboda informs.

Kazimierz Pulaski (1746-1779) is an outstanding Polish military commander, one of the leaders of Bar confederation (a union of nobility, church leaders and government of Rzecz Pospolita who struggled against Russia’s influence on royal rule, and for protection of nobility rights), a hero of the War for Independence in the USA, an organizer of the American cavalry.

In 1929 the USA Senate founded General Pulaski Memorial Day which is celebrated on October 11.
