It should be reminded that the trial was caused by the article “General-Senator Mikalai Charginets” by A. Tamkovich published in the newspaper “Novy Chas” owned by “Chas Navinau”.

In M. Charginets’s opinion, the published in September article damaged his honour, dignity and goodwill. He estimated the damage to him at BYR 600 million and wants to recover damage against the journalist (100 million) and the editor’s office (500 million).

Alyaksandr Tamkovich is ill now and can’t be present at the trial on 5 December. “I collected all necessary documents and asked to adjourn the trial for some days,“ Mr. Tamkovich said to “Nasha Niva”. But the court didn’t consider his illness to be a ground for reschedule the hearing. As it is known, A. Tamkovich has been suffering form a serious disease for some years, and recently he has got flu.

The journalist’s lawyer and editor-in-chief of “Novy Chas” Alyaksei Karol will be present at the hearing.
