Lukashenka flew to Venezuela

Alyaksandr Lukashenka flew to Venezuela with an official visit on Thursday, Interfax learnt from the press service of head of state.

The press service noted that president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chavez paid two visits to Minsk: in July 2006 and in June 2007. A. Lukashenka and H. Chavez decided on strategic cooperation and pointed out the priority spheres of bilateral relations, the president’s press service stressed. In spite of substantial geographical remoteness, Belarus and Venezuela have progressed in the cooperation in different spheres within a short period of time: many projects, which are very advantageous for both sides, have been started.

High level of political dialog, common goals in realisation social policy of the two states, common world views, and similar positions in the UN and Non-Aligned Movement help intensification of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela, the press service noted.
