An acting chairman of the public association “Belarusian Helsinki Committee” Aleh Hulak was summoned by lieutenant colonel S. N. Sinevich, head of the department of crime prevention of Savetski district of Minsk for providing explanations in connection with the petition to the procurator's office by the Belarusian Helsinki Committee concerning a fight during the Social March on November 4.
During the conversation the police representative warned Aleh Hulak about liability for misleading accusation, belhelcom.org informs.
However, in his account the human rights activist explained that the fact of a fight was noted by observers of the Committee who worked during the rally, and in compliance with the Statute of the organization and the law in force, the BCH filed a statement for the prosecutor’s office.
Law-enforcing agencies are to investigate the facts and take measures against violators of the public order and the police officers who had failed to guarantee order, in case the latter would be confirmed during the investigation.
Law-enforcing agencies were informed about the position of the organization: it is their work to guarantee law and order, and tax-payers pay for that, as both the organizers and participants of the rally were just realizing their constitutional right for peaceful rallying.
The human rights activist has underlined that law-enforcing agencies have footage made by operative group, footage of journalists, and however the organizers and participants of the fight haven’t been identified yet. No one has been brought to account.
