Alyaksandr Milinkevich: “We’ll fight up to last ditch” 5

18:08, — Politics

The leader of “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich has commented to the Charter’97 press-center the reports about Vladimir Putin’s possible occupation of the position of the president of the “union state”.

“During our visit to the US I am constantly raising the issue that it is necessary to keep Belarus’ independence. At the meetings with George Bush and Condoleezza Rice I spoke about the danger of Belarus’ Anschluss by Russia. The US leadership has assured me that they will closely watch the situation. We are living in the state where everything is done secretly, surreptitiously. Holding a free referendum is impossible in the country, that’s why its results will be never recognized by the developed countries. We shall fight up till the last ditch!” Alyaksandr Milinkevich said.

As we have informed, the delegation of the Belarusian opposition headed by Alyaksandr Milinkevich stays on the visit in the US. Yesterday democrats met with the US President George Bush. The delegation has also met with the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The US Congress held hearings on Belarus.
