10:45, — Politics

The investigation is extended for three months, up to 24 December. Human rights activist Aleh Vouchak was informed by Minsk Office of Public Prosecutor. Office of Public Prosecutor didn’t inform in the letter what investigative actions on this case are taken.

As it was noticed, the former Minister of Internal Affairs and one of the opposition leaders Yury Zaharanka disappeared in May 1999. Many people in Belarus and in the world think he was kidnapped on political grounds and maybe killed. The Belarusian authorities declare that the investigation is not ended and both the reasons of his kidnapping and his destiny are unknown, - Radio Svaboda reminded.

Aleh Vouchak reminded that the session of the UNO Kidnapping Working Group will be held in October. There the actions taken by the Belarusian authorities on searching Yury Zaharanka and other missing Belarusian politicians will be analyzed. The human rights activists and Aleh Vouchak in particular have already declared that the Belarusian authorities “are imitating the investigation’.
