On January 16 a Russian movement “Oborona” held an action of solidarity with Belarusian people against Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s dictatorship.

10 activists of “Oborona” who gathered near Belarusian Embassy, demanded to stop prosecution of Belarusian journalists who simply do their work, and of other representatives of democratic movements and parties. Participants of the rally also demanded to call new fair election in our country. Young people were holding 2 flags of the movement, 2 white-red-white national Belarusian flags and a streamer “Solidarity”. They were chanting: “Long live Belarus!”, “Free political prisoners!”, a web-resource Kasparov.ru reports.

20 policemen were keeping law and order.

The initiative to hold Days of Solidarity with Belarus appeared after on September 16, 2005 policemen disbanded a rally in the memory of disappeared Lukashenka opponents. Portraits of abducted Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Yury Zakharanka and Zmitser Zavadski and national flags were seized.
