Kastus Akula Died

Kastus Akula, a well-know personality of Belarusian expatriate community, a talented writer, poet and playwright, died yesterday in Canada in the age of 83.

Kastus Akula started public service while in Germany. Besides, there he started to write and publish his works in different emigrant periodicals.

He dedicated much time to creating of Belarusian communities in Canada. He founded a church in Toronto, worked in Sunday schools; he was an editor of the magazine “Zvazhaj”, was one of the organizers of the Association of Belarusians of Canada and its first chairman.

All his life was full of love to his Motherland. He dreamt to see his native land a free, independent country, and he had done a lot for that.

The Charter’97 press-center presents deepest sympathy to family, friends and colleagues of Kastus Akula.
