Growth of housing and utilities rates exceeded promised maximum two times

Alyaksandr Lukashenka ordered the government to limit the tariffs growth to $5, but officials allowed a $9.1 increase during the year.

Individuals will pay for gas, electrical and heat energy, in other words for services provided by the Ministry of Energy, $7 more, and cost services provided by the organizations of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities (technical support, water, sewerage, solid waste disposal and processing, elevator using) wil be increased by $3, AFN writes.

According to the Law on Budget 2009, individuals are supposed to pay 32 per cent of cost of housing and utilities services. However, the new rates will allow compensating of only 29.8 per cent of the total volume of costs.

From January 1, rent of a 3-person family living in an average two-room apartment of 28 square meters will increase by 21,000 Belarusian rubles (by 14.89 per cent) and amount to 162,900 Belarusian rubles during the heating season with average demand. In summer, costs of housing and utilities services will grow by 13,300 Belarusian rubles (by 14.4 per cent) up to 106,100 rubles for a two-room apartment, BelTA reports referring to the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of Belarus.
