According to official information, consumer prices in Belarus have increased by 2.5 per cent in January after the December growth by 2.4 per cent.

According to the forecast of the social and economic development of Belarus for 2008, the government and the National Bank were to hold inflation rate in the range of 6-8 per cent, or 0.5-0.6 per cent within a month.
Taking into consideration a significant growth of purchase price of meat and milk products is expected soon, the planned year inflation rate will be fulfilled by the government ahead of time ¬ - only within two months.
