Entrepreneur’s trial postponed due to language question

Civil activists, detained preventively ahead of protest rally of entrepreneurs on 10 January, continue to stand trials. A proceeding against Viktar Kryval, one of the leaders of entrepreneurs’ movement from Uzda, has started on 11 February. He is accused of allegedly disobedience to militia.

He allegedly committed an incriminated crime before the rally of entrepreneurs on 10 January. Unexpected for judge Syarhei Afonski, the trial was stopped due to “language question” – Viktar Kryval required the trial to be held in his native Belarusian language and the judge had to postpone the trial till 27 February.

On 10 January, two hours before the rally began, on Minsk-Slutsk highway militia stopped a minibus driving to Minsk with Viktar Kryval, Alyaksandr Tsastura, his wife Tamara and their adult son Illya. Reports were drawn up against all people allegedly for disobedience to militia, and the vehicle was detained for allegedly untrue bus’s number.

Viktar Kryval is going to prove the evidence of his guilt is untrue. Syarhei Afonski didn’t say if the trial on 27 February would be conducted in Belarusian.
