Customs authorities of Russia and Belarus set to work on transfer of Russian-Belarusian customs border to the outer border of the “union state,” Andrei Belyaninov, head of the Russian Federal Customs Service said, opening the session of the joint panel of customs authorities of the two countries in Hrodna on Thursday.
“The main issues to be discussed today are Kaliningrad corridor and transfer of the customs border to outer border of the “union state,” A. Belyaninov said. He noted such order was given to the customs services of the two countries by prime ministers of Russia and Belarus.
“We just outline this matter today, but we plan to introduce first results of our work for collective discussion by the end of July,” the head of the Russian Federal Customs Service said.
As Alyaksandr Shpileuski, head of the State Customs Committee of Belarus noted, “it’s a key topic that has evoked much response in the society.”
A. Belyaninov expressed hope the customs services would “contribute to development of union relations, attached much importance by the presidents of our countries.” According to A. Belyaninov customs services of Russia and Belarus has begun to work in concert. “We have begun to discuss more concrete questions. Our working and experts groups cooperate closely and our positions have moved closer,” he emphasised.
