White-red-white marathon in honour of BNR 90th anniversary in Vitsebsk

Legendary Miron hang out a white-red-white national Belarusian flag near the court of Vitsebsk district on 26 February. The flag appeared at about 8pm on the roof of the three-storey dwelling house opposite the court building on Kamsamolskaya Street.
As Vitsebsk oppositionist Barys Khamaida said to BelaPAn, referring to his sources of information, a notice in Belarusian was fixed to the flag, running “In honour of Anton Lutskevich, initiator of the Belarusian National Republic proclamation. Glory to heroes! Long Live Belarus! Miron.”
“By having hung out a flag in honour of the first prime minister of the BNR government Yazep Varonka, legendary Miron began his “white-red-white marathon” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of that state creation,” Barys Khamaida reminded to Vitsebsk journalists. “I know from my sources of information that white-red-white national flags will appear regularly in different sites of Vitsebsk.”
In should be reminded that the first white-red-white national flag on behalf of Miron appeared in town Lyozna in the Vitsebsk Region in 1995. Hundreds of flags have been hung out since then, moreover flags appear in hard-to-get places – above power lines with voltage of some thousands volts, on roofs of dwelling houses and administrative offices.
Militia are keeping a close watch on appearing of national flags, though they rarely manage to detain oppositionists, involved in the events. Last time non-party activist Barys Khamaida and Alyalsandr Salauyan, member of the Conservative Christian Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, were detained for hanging out flags on a power line along Gazeta Pravda Street in Vitsebsk. But militia officers and emergency officers, who were removing the flag, didn’t find a notice “Miron” at the place of detention. So the identity of legendary Miron is still unrevealed.
