Inspection on Taxes and Duties says Homel opposition activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski must file income-tax return on his whole life.
The court of the Tsentralny District of Homel found the activist guilty of receiving aid from abroad, which he hadn’t declared in the Humanitarian Activity Department. K. Zhukouski received the money as a wedding present from his aunt from Kyiv. He must to pay fine of 1.750.000 Belarusian rubles.
As BelaPAN learnt from Zhukouski, the tax inspection asks him to explain where he had got money from to buy a house and a car. “I explained them, I have been earning the money, besides that I had received for the wedding, for all my life – I worked, borrowed. I was never lazy. I went to work in Russia some years to support my family. Now they don’t like I have a house, the state would rather my wife, child and I were homeless,” K. Zhukouski said.
The activist appealed to the region tax inspection against activity of the inspection on taxes and duties of the Tsentralny District. “I received an answer from there on 27 February: the demands are lawful, I must inform what I lived on and where I got money from since my birth until now and file documents, confirming my incomes. It’s nonsense – the inspection may show that an aunt presented me a baby carriage for my birthday, but I didn’t declare it,” the activist said.
