As the leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka believes, the fact that he was put on the list of persons restricted to travel abroad; it’s not just his personal problem, but a political issue of the national and international meaning”.

The United Civil Party leader Anatol Lyabedzka discussed the problem of the ban to leave for him with French Ambassador to Belarus Mireille Musso, and the US Ambassador Karen Stewart.

In the end of the last year he was denied leaving aboard. The reason for that was a criminal case against him opened back in 2003 for charges relating insult of honour and dignity of the president.

The UCP leader stressed that he would defend his constitutional rights. “I am set to insist either on taking the case to court or dismiss the lawsuit,” he stated. “In this situation political blackmailing is unjustifiable”.

“And it is sure to be present in the dialogue of the EU and the US with the official Minsk. At least, I received such assurances. The list of persons banned to leave abroad on political reasons is under control of the international community,” Anatol Lyabedzka said.

As the politician informed, he is set to meet with the Prosecutor General of Belarus Pyotr Miklashevich and Interior Ministers Uladzimer Navumau personally, in order to listen to their comments on the situation from their own lips”.
