Who is Andrei Maksimau? 1

10:55, — Politics

While Lyavon Barshcheuski, head of the Belarusian Popular Front party, is threatening to go to law against “Belorusskaya Voennaya Gazeta”(Belarusian Military Newspaper), if it doesn’t publish contradiction of the article “Dzima Zhaleznichenka as a mirror of failed ‘cornflower revolution,’” the editor’s office is preparing an answer to Barshcheuski and suppressing the real name of the author.

Radio Racyja phoned to Uladzimir Alyaksandrau, the editor-in-chief of “Belorusskaya Voennaya Gazeta.”

– Have you received a letter from Barshcheuski?

– Yes, I’ve received it.

– How can you comment on it?

– All comments will be said later. We are preparing an answer for Mr. Barshcheuski.

– Does the editor’s office entertain a possibility to publish the letter of the BPF party head?

– But if you don’t publish it in a week, Barshcheuski will go to law.

– Do you personally agree with some information written in the letter of the BPF party leader?

– I repeat, we are preparing an answer. Everything will be said there.

– When will this answer be published?

– In the nearest time.

– Within a week?

– Yes.

– Is Andrei Maksimau a penname or a real name?

– We have finished. I’m busy. Call later.

Editor of “Belorusskaya Voennaya Gazeta” didn’t take phone anymore. But, as it was found out, there is no Andrei Maksimau in the staff. The most likely is that a penname was used for writing the scandalous article. In any case, Uladzimir Rudenka, first deputy editor-in-chief, doesn’t know anything about this author.
