Franak Vyachorka, member of the Youth of the BPF (Belarusian Popular Front), received an answer from the Ministry of Education to his claim against expulsion from faculty of journalism of the Belarusian State University (BSU). In particular, the letter says the claim of the expelled student had been sent to the BSU rector’s office.
Meanwhile, the Law on Appeals of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus says about inadmissibility of sending claims to the establishments and organisations whose activity is disputed. So the actions of the officials can hardly be explained with legal nihilism, so Franak Vyachorka’s case is most likely to be politically motivated,” human rights center Vyasna informs.
15 February dean of the BSU faculty of journalism Syarhei Dubovik said to Franak he was expelled for academic failure. The rector’s order was signed up by a pro-rector. Franak Vyachorka was detained 16 January and arrested for 15 days for allegedly using of foul language.
