Uladzimir Arlou, Yury Khashchavatski and Aleh Dashkevich shot film Freedom Day ahead of 90th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic.
As the authors of the film think, this documentary video will allow their countrymen to realise that historically and mentally the Belarusians are European nation.
“We say in the film that if the great states had help to protect independence of Belarus and Ukraine, these 50-million countries with their vast natural resources would have influenced significantly the European history. Insensate machine of Stalin’s imperia destroyed all founders of the BNR and supporters of the idea of Belarusian state independence, who remained in the Soviet Union,” scripter, writer and historian Uladzimir Arlou noted.
He thinks the European politicians should listen to Vaclav Havel’s words, who does imagine the democratic Europe without Belarus and Ukraine.
Freedom Day is the 35th film by Yury Khashchavatski, a winner of numerous international and national festivals of documentary films. One of his latest works, The Square, was included in the programmes of 15 film festivals. It is planned to be shown at festivals in Rumania, US, Ukraine, and Great Britain.
Film Freedom Day was shown in the European Parliament in the frames of Belarusian Week, dedicated to 90th anniversary of the Belarusian National Republic.
