Kommersant: Former Lawyer of Berezovsky suspected of document forgery

5

A former lawyer of Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky, a US citizen Emanuel Zeltser, and his secretary, a citizen of Russia Vladlena Funk, have been placed to the pretrial detention centre of the KGB (State Security Committee) of Belarus. They are suspected of document forgery, Kommersant writes with a reference to unofficial sources.

The newspaper also notes that the both foreigners detained right after arrival in Minsk airport on March 12, haven’t been presented any official charges.

Meanwhile, it was hard to say for the official representative of the Belarusian KGB Valery Nadtachaeu what documents could be possibly meant, and how they could be used in the country by the people who had just left the plane.

Besides, the newspaper found out that over the seven days spent in the remand prison, Emanuil Zeltser and Vladlena Funk hadn’t addressed for help consular sections of their countries.

As we have informed, earlier reports said that representatives of the American Russian Law Institute where the lawyer works, supposed that the arrest could be related to his relations with Russian businessmen, in particular, with some late Russian businessman.

The arrest of Zeltser and Funk took place on March 12, however it was reported only on March 17.
