GAZ and KAMAZ to buy MAZ

Belarusian Government will discuss the corporization of the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) with GAZ Group and KAMAZ in the nearest time.
Valyantin Hurynovich, deputy minister of industry of Belarus, said it in Minsk at a round table session on diesel machine industry issues.
“We have received a proposal from GAZ and KAMAZ on their probable participation in corporization of the Minsk Automobile Plant. I have just come back from my business trip where I was studying this question in details. A meeting on governmental level will soon be organised, and we are to discuss all details,” V. Hurynovich said.
At the same time the deputy minister noted the present proposal of the Russian companies were not good enough for Belarus.
“GAZ and KAMAZ would like to see MAZ a companion, or a minor partner, and we disagree with it,” Hurynovich said. He emphasised the Belarusian and Russian automakers should achieve understanding on all issues.
“We should find mutually acceptable ways for developing of national automobile industry, otherwise in some years we will drive not our cars, but, for example, Mercedeses,” the deputy minister stressed.
