Arrests for Social Protest in Salihorsk

Detained participants of the rally in Salihorsk have been sentenced to arrests. They protested against the social policy of the regime. Uladzimer Shyla has been arrested for 15 days, and Zmitser Banko for 3 days, Radio Svaboda informs.
The court of Tsentralny court of Minsk has also sentenced an activist of the Social Democratic party “Hramada” Alyaksei Marozau to 5 days of arrest. He was detained on March 1 for the streamer “Freedom to Kazulin!”
On March 2 a social rally organized by local activists was disbanded in Salihorsk. The meeting’s goal was to express support to individual entrepreneurs, and to protest against repeal of benefits.
About 300 persons gathered in the central square of the town. The meeting started at 2 p.m. In 5 minutes after the beginning of the rally the square was cordoned off by policemen. Minsk riot policemen had arrived to help their colleagues.
9 persons were detained: Uladzimer and Ivan Shyla, Andrus Tychyna, Krystsina Samojlava, Alyaksei Valabueu, Zmitser Banko, Anatol Mirashnichenka, Ryhor Astapenia. A pensioner Henadz Kudzelka was taken bad during the arrest. He developed a heart problem and was hospitalized by an ambulance.
Reports for participation in the unsanctioned meeting have been filed against 8 persons.
