Authorities organising concerts “We are Belarusians!” ahead of Freedom Day

More than 50 concerts are to be held in Belarus in the frames of social and cultural action “We are Belarusians!”
Minister of culture Uladzimir Matsveichuk said it on the press conference in Maholyou. He takes part in opening the action there today.
According to the minister, the action is organised by the Ministry of Culture together with region executive committees, the Minsk city executive committee and leading creative teams of the country. Its objective is wide promotion of spiritual and cultural values of Belarusian people, achievements of modern Belarusian art in Belarus and abroad, and advancing of positive image of Belarus in the world.
The first stage will last from 4 March till 3 July and will include solo and collective concerts of the leading professional musical and choreographic collectives of Belarus in all regions of the country. Among the participants are National Symphonic and Pop Music Orchestra under the leadership of Mikhail Finberg, Belarusian State Ensemble “Pesnyary”, Belarusian State Distinguished Choreographic Orchestra “Kharoshki”, Distinguished Collective of Belarus Ensemble “Syabry” and others. The main event will be a gala night in the Belarusian capital near the obelisk “Minsk-city-hero.”
The leading professional collectives and theatres will go on abroad tour, playing concerts and performances under the motto “We are from Belarus” in May – August. Participation of our collectives in different cultural programmes in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Baltic countries has already been arranged.
The second stage of the action is scheduled for August – October. Big charity open air concerts of executants from Minsk and regions are planned to be performed in big cities. Local cultural collectives and executants will also play in all districts of the country. The final action will be a grandiose concert at the Minsk-1 airport, where collectives and singers, who participated actively in concerts in regions, will play, Uladzimir Matsveichuk said.
He also added lip-syncing wouldn’t be allowed in most cases.
