Kazulin kept in isolation

The long-term meeting of the political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin with his daughters previously planned for April 26 is at risk. The politician is imprisoned since the beginning of the year 2006. The whole world demands his release.

During the last visit of lawyer Zmitser Harachka to Alyaksandr Kazulin it turned out that the administration does not permit the meeting on that day. Policemen explain the refusal by the fact that there won’t be free room for a meeting of the prisoner with his daughter on that day. The elder daughter of the politician Volha comments on the situation to Radio Svaboda:

“Everything is well-known in the colony. People know that those who hadn’t been going to have a meeting with relatives on April 26, are made to plan a meeting on that day, so there would be a reason to deny meeting to our father, as if there would be no free room”.

As said by Volha Kazulina, it is done on an order from higher authorities to put the prisoner in maximum isolation.

She asked about formal reasons for the denial to grant a meeting with her father Alyaksandr Kazulin in a letter to the head of the colony Vitsba-3 Vital Agnistsikau. Volha reminded that the last long-term meeting with relatives her father had last year in November. Alyaksandr Kazulin saw his wife Iryna for the last time then. She died in February 2008.

As we have informed, the former candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin is kept in Vitsebsk colony for two years already. The politician had been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for hooliganism and staging street protest on Freedom Day on March 25, 2006.
