Liudmila Hraznova: “It’s usual tactics of regime, imprisonment of most active and courageous people”

14:40, — Politics

“It’s a usual tactics of the regime, to imprison the most active and courageous youth activists of the country. It is done firstly for neutralization of those people. Secondly, it is done for intimidation of the Belarusians in the run-up to the election campaign,” the head of the “Human Rights Alliance” Liudmila Hraznova said to the Charter’97 press-center, commenting on the demand of the prosecutor to sentence participants of the protest rally of entrepreneurs to long-term imprisonment and restriction of freedom.

“The trial over participants of the protest rally of entrepreneurs belongs to the series of politically motivated trials, organized by the regime as a political show, and naturally, there are no legal grounds for jailing Andrei Kim to a colony. There were no trustworthy testimonies of the offence. It’s pure politics; and he is certainly a political prisoner, and people in Belarus and abroad should fight for his release,” Liudmila Hraznova noted.
