Lawyer Zeltser’s health deteriorated drastically in jail

8:41, — Politics

U.S. citizen Emanuel Zeltser, arrested in Minsk and received into the pretrial detention center, complains of his health. Interfax reports it with reference to his lawyer Dzmitry Harachka.

It should be reminded that Zeltser arrived in Belarus as Badri Patarkatsishvili’s cousin Josef Kay (Kakalashvili) had asked him to settle matters with the property of the late oligarch - timber processing and engineering enterprises.

“My client complains of bad health. According to him, he feels very bad,” Harachka said. He also noted “Zeltser complains that he is not given medicines he needs.”

Dzimtry Harachka refused to talk on other subjects of Zeltser’s case except for his health, as he had promised not to give any information concerning this case. Harachka only said his client was in the KGB pretrial detention center.

Earlier the Republican Clinical Mental Hospital said Zeltser was appointed forensic psychiatric expert examination in the middle of April and he had been transferred to secure hospital forensic psychiatric department.

Zeltser, former soviet emigrant, is an expert in organised crime and money laundering matters in Russia and other former soviet republics. In 2000-2001 he was a lawyer of Paval Baradzin, secretary of state of Belarus-Russia union, detained in New York. He also was noticed in the case of money laundering through Bank of New York.
