Some national white-red-white flags appeared above the roofs of Minsk buildings ahead of 1 May.
One of them was hung up in the city district Paudnyovy Zakhad at night 29 April. Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” affixed above a 9-storey building at the crossing of Dzyarzhynski Avenue and Holubeu Street. It is one of the most crowded sites of the district, as Berastse cinema, Kirmash supermarket and Medical University are situated near. So many people could see a white-red-white flag.
The similar action was held in the Kastrychnitski district in Minsk. A national flag was hung above a nine-storey building on Lyaukou Street on 30 April.
The actions were timed to 1 May. This day is significant for our history – our country became a European Union’s neighbour and got a chance to join it. That is why this day was declared Day of Europe by the pro-European organisations of Belarus.
