Belarusians choose European Union (Photo)

Actions “For European Belarus” were held all over Belarus. The actions were held in Brest, Vitsebsk, Vorsha, Baranavichy, Pinsk, Luninets and other towns.Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” hung out banners, spread information materials, collected votes for Belarus’ joining the EU.

On 18 May a banner “Belarus to Europe” appeared on the most remarkable sights of Vitsebsk – the Hill of Glory.

At the same day activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” held an action in the city center, during which they handed round copies of Square film about the events in Minsk after presidential elections 2006, booklet “What the EU can give to Belarus,” spread stickers with a campaign’s logo and bound blue ribbons – a symbol of European Belarus.

On 18 May in Vorsha activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” hung pout national flags at entrances to the town and decorated the roads to the town with blue ribbons.

– We do it for the people who come to the town to know they had arrived in a European town, - the participants of the action noted.

In Brest activists of “European Belarus” held actions, too, they pasted stickers and stringed up blue ribbons. They also collected votes for Belarus’ joining the EU.

Activists of “European Belarus” in Luninets decorated a monument, installed in honour of construction of the railroad Luninets-Vilnisu. A lot of stickers and blue ribbons appeared in the town. A large among of leaflets was delivered among mail boxes.

Similar actions were organised in Baranavichy. Information materials about the European Union were spread in the town.

Some actions in support of the campaign “European Belarus” were held in Pinsk last weekend. The town was decorated with blue ribbons. Booklets and leaflets in support of the European campaign were spread among the town dwellers, copies of Square film were handed round. The activists also collected votes for Belarus’ joining the EU. A banner “European Belarus” was hung out in the center of the town, it was hanging over an hour and was noticed by thousands of Pinsk dwellers.
