UCP activists arrested for “obscene language”

Kiryl Paulouski, Mikhal Pashkevich and Vital Stozharau, activists of the United Civil Party detained today at 3.00 pm, were guarded from the Tsentralny district militia department to the Tsentralny district court of Minsk.

Kiryl Paulouski was sentenced to 10 days of arrest, Vital Stozharau and Mikhal Pashkevich got 15 days of arrest. All of them were accused of “using foul language in public”, the website ucpb.org reports.

V. Stozharau made a motion for a lawyer at the trial, referring to the Constitution. Judge Tatsyana Paulyuchuk denied the motion.

Before delivering a decision to Mikhal Pashkevich, the judge expelled everyone who had come to support Mikhal from the courtroom, and didn’t recess to take a decision that is a gross abuse of legal process.

Senior sergeant Dzmitry Turkau and unit commander Dzmitry Arbuzau were witnesses at the trial.

It should be reminded that Mikhal Pashkevich, Vital Stozharau and Kiryl Paulouski have been detained today at 11 in the morning in near Nyamiha Street.
