Kobryn Activist Alyaksandr Mekh threatened (Audio)

An activist from Kobryn Alyaksandar Mekh received a phone call of KGB men who threatened him. Alyaksandar Mekh has become well-known all over the country after he managed to record his conversation with a KGB man who advised him not to take part in the “parliamentary elections” on a Dictaphone.

“On July 8 a received a call to a mobile phone. I met the challenge. The person started use foul language, insult me and threaten. I interrupted him and said: “I won’t talk to you any more”. Then I switched off the phone. The number of the speaker was indicated in my phone, +375164225659. This number is registered as a number of the office of a deputy of the “chamber of representatives” of the “national assembly” in the phone book. On the next day, July 9, I filed a statement to the prosecutor of Kobryn region, M. Zaparoshchanka, with a demand to find a person who had been making threats to me, in order to bring him to justice in line with the law. I also met with the prosecutor and stated that I consider that these threats are connected with my intention to take part in the parliamentary election in September 2008,” Alyaksandar Mekh said to the human rights center “Viasna”.

As we have informed, after the engineer of “Beltransgaz”, a member of the Belarusian Popular Front party Alyaksandar Mekh decided to take part in the “parliamentary election”, he was dismissed. The activist was invited for a “preventive” talk to the KGB, and the activist managed to record it to a mobile phone.
