Money allocated to “elections” should be better given to orphans

3

Viktar Harbachou, the leader of the public association “For Free development of entrepreneurship” offered to send Br 24 billions, allocated to the “parliamentary elections campaign”, to orphans in orphanages.

“It would be far more useful. Nobody would count voters’ votes. That is why it would be better to send money to orphans, as we have thousands of them, than to play a game without rules,” the possible candidate for deputy representing the United Civil party told in an interview to the UCP press-service.

As said by Harbachou, none of the 45 representatives o the democratic forces nominated for members of precinct election commissions of Barysau, was allowed to become a member. In Barysau pro0democracy activists offered 45 persons to 45 precinct commissions, thus completely “covering” the town. They are mostly businessmen, who participate in election campaigns, and members of the UCP.

To the question about the reason of denial, the head of organizing and cadres department of Barysau regional executive committee Pavel Zhuha answered: “there are very many aspirants. There have never been so many people who want to join election commissions”.

“Representatives of “Belaya Rus” have got in, and representatives of the UCP do not deserve to become members of election commissions,” Viktar Harbachou said. As said by him, the democratic parties and movements “must stop trying to fit to the regime and pretend the election campaign is taking place”.

“There won’t be elections,” Viktar Harbachou said, “and we should tell about that today, when such things happen during creation of precinct commissions. But we are waiting from one stage to another: maybe a miracle would happen, and opposition would be allowed to participate. The regime is not going “to change its ways”. Having immersed into the mire of rigging over these 12 or 13 years, they are not going to hold democratic election. We must state our position and stop playing like in a kindergarten. Pro-democracy candidates should consider withdrawing their candidatures”.
