Ales Antipenka: It’s clear for all media that election result is “fated”

Mediaexpert Ales Antipenka thinks low media activity in covering the election campaign can be explained by the fact the election result is “fated”.
He said it at a press conference on 26 August, BelaPAN reports.
“Republican and regional press didn’t paid much attention to the election campaign for the “house of representatives” during the period from 19 to 26 August. In my view, it is connected with the fact that it is clear for both state-run and independent media that the campaign will be organised according to a certain scenario. By the way, independent media wrote about it. The election results can easily be predicted. So both state-run and independent media do not see any sense in covering the political situation, when the result is known now,” A. Antipenka thinks.
According to him, important events such as release of political prisoners, Beijing Olympic Games, visit of US Department of State’s representative David A. Merkel to Belarus, weren’t able to influence strongly covering of election for the “house of representatives”. “I think this covering of the election campaign is the hush before the storm, before the most active stage of the election campaign, before registration of MP candidates and before the beginning of election propaganda,” A. Antipenka noted.
