Political prisoner Artsyom Dubski denied release on parole

The arrested participant of the Process of 14 is still in cruel prison conditions and went on three-day hungry strike protesting against arbitrary behaviour of the colony administration.

On November 24, lawyer Tamara Sidarenka visited her client, the arrested participant of the Process of 14 Artsyom Dubski, who has been in Mahilou penal colony #19 since July 2009.

According to the lawyer, Artsyom Dubski looks very thin, he lost 8 kilograms of weight in prison. Besides, it turned out that Artsyom Dubski was on three-day hunger strike protesting against prison administration, which forbad sending books to the prisoner, mfront.net reports.

“When some books were allowed, Dubski ended the strike. But is rights are still restricted: it’s forbidden for him to buy cigarettes in the prison shop, though the administration doesn’t complain at him and he doesn’t violate the rules,” said head of the legal department of “Young Front” Nasta Loika, who visited Dubski together with the lawyer.

As of now, there’s precise information that Artsyom Dubski was refused release on parole. The parole board decided it would be inadmissible to release Artsyom Dubski.

“Young Front” activist Artsyom Dubski was sentenced to a year in minimum security penal colony for violation of the rules of serving punishment in the notorious Case of 14, when 14 youth activists were sentenced to restriction of liberty for their participation in protests rallies of entrepreneurs. In 2009, Amnesty International recognized the participants of the Process of 14 prisoners of conscience.
