As charter97.org website has informed, about a thousand of workers of the glass plant “Neman” in Byaroza have sent an open letter of protest to the Belarusian government.

The address of “Neman” workers was addressed to Architecture and Construction Minister of Belarus. The collective letter was signed by about 1,000 workers of the enterprise.

Workers inform Minister Alyaksandr Selyaznyou about the critical situation at the enterprise. As it is stated in the collective letter, with a violation of the law workers of some units of the enterprise have been made to work part-time working day, without a compensation paid to them, salaries are regularly delayed, and salaries have considerably decreased, supplemental nutrition for harmful working conditions is given behind schedule, and the quality of food has decreased. Workers note that over the recent years the technologies remained the same, while production rate is regularly increased for them (the latest increase is planned for the end of 2009, by 20%).

As said by workers of Byaroza glass plant, a conflict situation is be about to happen at the plant. Many people do not see any way out, and are ready for a strike.
