Belarusian Internet service providers pass on warnings from KGB to their clients

Today clients of the SOLO Internet service provider have received a strange letter from the director of the company.
It was written there:
“Dear customers of SOLO Company!
State agencies of the Republic of Belarus (The Council of Ministers, the presidential Administration, the State Secretariat of the Security Council) has worked out and adopted a package of measures aimed to prevent propagation of extremist ideas among young people. In the framework of realization of this package of measures the State security bodies of Belarus are given a task to organize a joint (in cooperation with interested organizations) control over use of computer networks. The aim is to prevent possible dissemination of illegal materials through them.
In line with the letter of the Central district division of the directorate of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus for Minsk and Minsk region of 13.03.2009 #33/32-34n/s we notify you that dissemination (opening for public access and so on) extremist and other illegal information is unlawful.”
The warning letter is signed by the director of SOLO Company Uladzimir Ivashkevich.
Representatives of the Internet service provider have confirmed to the website electroname.com the fact that the warning letter had been sent, but withheld comments.
