Head of Belarusian “parliament” to visit Iran

7

A big delegation of Belarusian officials plans to pay a visit to Tehran in late June 2009.

Speaker of the upper house of the Belarusian “parliament” Barys Batura told this in Minsk meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Sayyid Abdollah Hosseini, Interfax reports.

“We will be grateful if a meeting with the president of Iran is organized. I think you’ll have elected him by this time,” Batura noted.

Speaking to the Iranian ambassador, Batura said the Belarusian delegation would like to meet with the head of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the ministers of trade, industry and mines, and the foreign minister of Iran.

Batura told the final composition of the delegation hadn’t been defined by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, but said the delegation would most likely include Belarusian senators, members of parliament and representatives of big enterprises.

“We would be grateful for help in searching dealers in Iran for our enterprises,” Batura said.

Batura stressed regular meeting between Belarus and Iran were “demonstration of special confidence in our country”. Batura also said he was sure the planned visit would “give a new impetus to development of Belarusian-Iranian relations”.
