Blogger Lipkovich took Yarmoshyna at her word

17

A potential candidate for a seat in the Minsk city council addressed the Central Commission on Elections and National Referendums.

Popular blogger Yauhen Lipkovich (lipkovich.livejournal.com) reminds in his appeal to CEC head Lidziya Yarmoshyna that on February 18, 2010, the state-run news agency BelTA quoted: ‘if speaking about a portrait of a potential candidate, it is a businessman, a director of a firm, or a joint company, Lidziya Yarmoshyna said.’

As portrait of potential candidate in the Valhahradki constituency #54 Yauhen Lipkovich differs from that described by Yarmoshyna, lawyers consulting his initiative group say Yarmoshyna’s words have uncovered false representation to voters and members of the Pershamaiski electoral distinct, who are subject to the CEC.

Besides, the lawyers of Lipkovich’s initiative group say Yarmoshyna’s remark on a portrait of a potential candidate spread by BelTA violates article 23 of the Constitution of Belarus (No one may enjoy advantages and privileges that are contrary to the law).

Lipkovich calls on the CEC head to spread a statement among voters of the Valhahradksi constituency #54 and members of the Pershamaiski electoral district saying her remarks on job of potential candidates do not restrict the right to be elected a deputy in the Valhahradski constituency #54 if he or she has another job.
