The Human Rights Report on Belarus issued by the US Department of State shows that US officials are well informed about the situation in the country, one of the BPF party founders thinks.
As Radio Svaboda reminds, the US Department of State released the annual human rights reports. The report on Belarus gives critical assessments of the human rights situation in the country.
One of the BPF party founders Lyavon Barshcheuski noted that the policy of the US Department of State remains consistent. He got this impression yet in November 2009 during his unofficial visit to Washington. According to Lyavon Barshcheuski, the report shows that US officials are well informed about the events in the country.
“Of course, the problems mentioned in the reports are grounded. They touch many people,” the Belarusian politician said. “I would focus on the things, which were given little attention, when contracts are not prolonged with employees for “wrong” political views. Formally, a contract expires, a person is dismissed. Formally, this doesn’t contradict the law, but in real fact this creates the atmosphere of fear in the society. For example, expulsion of Tatsyana Shaputska from university strikes the civil society, other people see this and begin to fear. This problem should be raised everywhere.“
