“In any country, statements made by a high-ranked official are considered in fact an official position of an appropriate institution,” he explained.

Minister of Information of Belarus Aleh Pralyaskouski doesn’t see sense in private communication between Belarusian officials and Internet-users similar to what foreign politicians do, AFN news agency writes.

He admitted that Belarusian officials are less open than their colleagues in post-Soviet countries.

“In comparison with their western colleagues, our ministers are less open. These are traditions in many CIS countries,” the minister said.

In this respect he called on officials do not flee from cameras and microphones. However, this cannot change the situation: most Belarusian officials gave up fleeing from journalists, they simply refuse to answer questions or give comments.
