7

A drawing competition in Salihorsk was thwarted by police. Administrative reports were drawn up against the detained for staging an unsanctioned event.

On July 27 near “Children’s World” Shop activists of he Young Front planned to hold an annual chalk drawings competition dedicated to the anniversary of independence proclamation. This year the competition was to ne held for the fourth time, “Belarusian partisan” informs.

Presence of a great number of policemen was alarming. Even a TV crew of Belarusian TV from Minsk arrived to observe the policemen. A car of the First National TV channel stood right in front of the place of the rally, and a cameraman started to film the beginning of the event.

In the beginning of the event a dispute between the organizers of the competition and policemen sparkled. Ivan Shyla, deputy chairman of the Young Front, was the first to start drawing on the pavement. And he became the first detainee. And soon Ryhor Astapenya, Andrei Tychyna, Illya Nahorny and Syarhei Heranovich were detained as well.

Then Alyaksei Valabueu announced the end of the action and called up those present to come to the police department to meet the detained. However he was detained as well.

Reports were drawn up against all the detainees on charges relating Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (participation in an unsanctioned event). They all are to stand trial.
