Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated that the price is to be “huge”.
As Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus Vasily Paulouski stated in Minsk on July 28, in case an offer would be received from Russia to buy Belarusian grain, it would be unquestionably considered by the ministry, REGIONS.RU informs.
Russia has not contacted Belarus yet with a request to sell this year’s grain. But Alyaksandr Lukashenka has no doubts that such a request would be received. Back on July 16 the Belarusian leader gave an order to pay maximum attention to the harvest and said: “This year demands to the harvesting operations would be extremely harsh. And not only because this will be a difficult harvesting campaign, but because today’s world has a shortage of grain. Russia has dried up, Kazakhstan had dry weather, and Europe had floods. Even now we receive enormous orders for grain. The price will be huge. Take the price factor under control”.
The sharpest fall in wheat production is expected in Russia. According to forecasts of the Institute for Agricultural market studies (IKAR), wheat harvest in Russia could be 49 mln tons as compared to 61.7 million tons last year. It will be 25% decrease; while the harvest in Ukraine is do decrease by 15% only. The crop has been ruined almost totally in Volga region.
